Dell’s near-billion dollar acquisition: Wyse Technologies

Bloomberg reported on Monday that the computer-producing heavyweight Dell paid close to a billion dollars in the acquisition of the privately held Wyse Technologies–a producer of cloud based management software tools.

According to Dell, Wyse’s 12-month trailing revenue totaled about $375 million. They expect the deal to close by the second quarter and said it should add to earnings in the second half of fiscal 2013 (via MarketWatch).

“[Wyse] provides software that allows companies to securely and remotely manage their devices, as well as access their information through mobile devices.” The acquisition is telling of Dell’s intentions for the future, moving towards the cloud based market and farther away from their quieted PC sales.
